W hy QOLA BS Editorial

There is a question that I have been asked many times over the last two years, in different ways but with the same core meaning:

Why another fashion thing?

It is an obvious question. The sector has more content than ever: newsletters, podcasts, reports, trends, analysis, opinion. The problem is that most of this content talks about fashion as if it were a spectacle. QOLABS exists because I believe that fashion is, first and foremost, a business. And understanding it as such changes everything.

What this is not

QOLABS Editorial is not a trend blog. It does not cover runway shows to tell you what people are going to wear next autumn. It does not have lists of the brands of the moment or profiles of designers who have just become famous.

Not because that world does not matter, which of course it does and I follow it closely, but because it is already covered, and well covered, by others.

What is not covered, or at least not with the depth it deserves, is the layer underneath: the one that supports what we see in the shop windows. The architecture of a collection. The logic of an assortment. The decision to enter or exit a channel. The sourcing system behind it. Profitability. The gap between what a brand wants to be and what its structure allows it to do.

That is what interests me. And that is what QOLABS is going to explore.

Why now

It has never been easier to access information about fashion.

Every day we read about trends, results, launches, campaigns, or brand movements. The information is out there.

What is still difficult is accessing the conversation that happens behind the scenes. How those who build collections, negotiate with suppliers, redefine an assortment, or make decisions that change the course of a company actually think.

That conversation rarely leaves the executive management teams.

QOLABS Editorial wants to bring it closer. Through interviews, conversations, and analysis with people who are building the industry from the inside today.

Who I am speaking to

To buyers who want to better understand how the brands they work with think. To founders who are building something and feel they lack the vocabulary for the commercial side. To designers who know how to make products but do not always know how to structure them. To brand directors who have been in the sector for years and still have questions without easy answers.

And, honestly, also to myself. Writing is the way I think most clearly.

What you will find here

Signals, small signs with big implications. Field Notes, direct observations of the market, unfiltered. Intelligence Reports, in-depth strategic analyses. And Perspectives, like this one, signed with my name in this case, where the opinion is explicit.

There will also be interviews, conversations, and analyses of some of the most relevant events in the industry: runway shows, corporate movements, launches, innovation, and decisions that change the course of brands. Because behind every collection, every acquisition, or every runway show, there is always a business decision that deserves to be understood.

One article every two weeks. No filler noise.

Thank you for starting this conversation with me.

Welcome to QOLABS Editorial.
